A small team with a specific problem
Four people maintain the MailerMen admin console, the internal tool our operations staff use to approve employers, merge duplicate companies and refund credits. It is unglamorous software that somebody uses every single day. This two month internship sits inside that team.
Your project
Company records get duplicated constantly, because employers register twice under slightly different names. A merge tool exists, but it is dangerous: it copies rows without a transaction, so a failure halfway through leaves orphaned job listings behind. You will rebuild it properly with Entity Framework Core, wrapping the whole merge in a single transaction, writing an audit row for every field that changes, and adding a twenty four hour window in which operations can reverse a bad merge.
What you get out of it
This internship is unpaid. In return you get a defined project you can describe confidently in an interview, code review from an engineer who has shipped .NET for eight years, and a written recommendation that talks about your actual work rather than restating your job title. You work remotely from anywhere in India with two hours of overlap each afternoon.
Responsibilities
- Rebuild the company merge tool to run inside a single Entity Framework Core transaction
- Design an audit table recording every field level change made by a merge
- Implement a twenty four hour undo window backed by a reversal job

- Write operator facing documentation for the new merge flow
- Sit in on two operations calls to see how the tool is used in practice

- Final year student or recent graduate, first internship very welcome
- Working knowledge of C# and object oriented basics
- Understanding of database transactions and why atomicity matters
- Able to overlap with the team for two hours each afternoon IST
- No prior industry experience required
