Most of the Kavach platform runs on Spring Boot, and this role sits in the underwriting group: the services that take an application, pull bureau and bank data, run the policy rules and return a decision inside a few seconds.
Build and maintain the services that call third-party data providers, normalise wildly inconsistent responses, and feed a rules engine that our risk team changes weekly without a deploy. A large part of the craft here is defensive: a bureau API will time out, return partial data or change a field name without warning, and the decision still has to be correct or explicitly deferred.
You will also help move two older services from a shared database toward their own schemas, which is careful, incremental work rather than a rewrite.
Three to seven years of Java, real Spring Boot experience, and enough JVM knowledge to diagnose a memory or thread-pool problem rather than restart the pod and hope. Familiarity with lending or bureau data is a bonus, not a requirement.
Kavach is a lending infrastructure company. Banks and NBFCs use our platform to underwrite, disburse and service unsecured credit, and we process a meaningful share of the small-ticket personal loan volume written in India every month.
Because we sit in a regulated path, correctness beats speed here. Services carry real test coverage, changes go out behind flags, and every ledger movement is reconciled daily. Engineers who enjoy reasoning about invariants, idempotency and audit trails do very well.
We are headquartered in Lower Parel, Mumbai, with a second engineering floor in Bengaluru. Most roles are hybrid at three days in office.
